Andrew Christian closed its doors in December 2025 after more than 25 years in business. The founder cited fast fashion platforms like Shein and Temu where underwear sells for $3 a pair as a driving force behind the shutdown. His final collection, Bespoke, dropped in the fall of 2025. The website is still technically live as of early 2026, but inventory is gone or going.

For a brand that built its name on gay underwear that made people feel confident, the closure leaves a real gap. Andrew Christian wasn't just selling briefs the brand became part of LGBTQ+ culture, from Pride events to circuit parties to everyday self-expression. If you're reading this, you probably owned a few pairs.

The fast fashion pressure he described is real. When Shein can knock off a design in 72 hours and sell it for the price of a coffee, brands that actually invest in design and quality get squeezed. This is especially true for niche markets where volume is smaller and margins are already tight.

But here's what most people don't realize: the brands that survive this aren't the ones competing on price. They're the ones that make their own product and control their supply chain. Andrew Christian outsourced manufacturing. The brands below — at least some of them don't.

Where to Shop by Category

Not every brand does everything Andrew Christian did. Here's how the landscape breaks down by what you're actually looking for.

Jockstraps

The gay jockstrap market has several players, but quality varies wildly. Most "leather jockstraps" online are cheap polyurethane from overseas factories that crack and peel after three wears.

We manufacture faux leather jockstraps under our DNGEON label in Medellín, Colombia  the same factory where we produce MOB Eroticwear and MaleBasics. The Cockring Jockstrap, Chain Jockstrap, Snap Jockstrap, and Peekaboo Jockstrap are all cut and assembled in-house using faux leather panels with metal O-ring hardware. One Size fits 30–46" waist because the side hardware adjusts to your body no elastic, just metal buckles you set once and forget. These aren't fashion-forward underwear they're gear.

Breedwell offers athletic-style jockstraps with a community focus. Solid construction, different aesthetic than DNGEON. More gym, less dungeon.

665 Leather does real leather pieces if that's your preference. Higher price point, heavier product, genuine hide.

Body Harnesses and Chest Harnesses

This is where Andrew Christian never really played — and where the real gap in the market exists. If you came to Andrew Christian for the vibe but wanted to go further, the body harness category is where things get interesting.

Our DNGEON harness line includes five distinct constructions: the Cross Back Harness, Straight Back Harness, Peekaboo Jock (a harness-jockstrap combo), Classic Cross Harness, and Belt Harness. Each comes in six colorways and every piece is manufactured in Colombia with adjustable hardware for one-size versatility.

The difference between a DNGEON harness and the $15 ones flooding Amazon: ours are assembled by garment workers who've been stitching leather-look pieces for years, using reinforced seams at stress points. A cheap harness pops a rivet at the club. Ours doesn't.

For chest harnesses specifically, our DNGEON Harness Belts use heavier-weight material and chunky riveted hardware closer to traditional leather culture gear but at a fraction of the weight.

Pride and Rave Outfits

Andrew Christian was a go-to for Pride party outfits. That need doesn't disappear because one brand closes.

DNGEON's Roman Skirt and Fire Skirt are pieces you won't find anywhere else — faux leather panel skirts with stud detailing, built for circuit parties, Pride events, and Folsom. The Cock Ring Rope comes in black and pride colorways rainbow-cord construction with metal ring hardware that doubles as a rave harness and conversation starter.

For general Pride underwear and basics, MaleBasics (our parent brand) covers everything from microfiber boxer briefs to lace thongs to mesh briefs the everyday rotation Andrew Christian was known for, manufactured in the same Medellín factory. Browse our Pride party outfits for the full selection.

Everyday Bold Underwear

If you wore Andrew Christian daily not just for events you need a brand with actual range. Here's what exists:

MaleBasics produces underwear across every silhouette: briefs, boxer briefs, thongs, jockstraps, trunks, and long johns. The AMATISTA fabric (78% polyester, 22% elastane) gives you 4-way stretch with real recovery the underwear holds its shape after 50+ wash cycles because of the high-lycra content and a cutting technique where the pattern is sized slightly smaller than your measurements so the stretch conforms to your body.

Cocksox is an Australian brand focused on pouch construction. Good product, different price tier.

JJ Malibu hits the playful end of the spectrum prints and patterns, more casual vibe.

Why Manufacturing Matters More Than Ever

Andrew Christian's closing is a warning. When your brand depends entirely on outsourced manufacturing, you're vulnerable to the exact fast-fashion race-to-the-bottom he described. Someone can always make it cheaper.

The brands that will still be here in five years are the ones that own their production. DNGEON, MOB Eroticwear, JUSTIN+SIMON and MaleBasics are all manufactured in our own facility in Medellín same cutting floor, same sewing team, same quality control. When we say "made in Colombia," we mean every step from pattern grading to sewing to packaging happens under our roof.

That's not marketing copy. That's the reason $3 Shein underwear can't kill us. You can't replicate 17 years of factory operations with an Alibaba listing.

What Happens to Andrew Christian's Website?

As of early 2026, andrewchristian.com is still technically accessible but the brand is officially closed. If you're looking for specific Andrew Christian styles, resale markets like Poshmark and eBay may have remaining inventory. But those are finite — once they're gone, they're gone.

The smarter move: find a brand that makes comparable product, owns its manufacturing, and isn't going anywhere. That's what we built DNGEON to be.
